Buckingham County Planning Commission Planning Commission Meeting
The meeting centered on the discussion of a proposed 'preferred corridors amendment' to the county's comprehensive plan. Public comment consisted of significant testimony from residents strongly opposing the amendment, primarily due to concerns regarding the 'Valley Link' transmission line project. Key topics included the potential for eminent domain usage, the negative impact on local farmland and conservation efforts, insufficient studies regarding the proposed corridors, and health risks associated with electromagnetic fields. Speakers urged the commission to protect private property rights and local agricultural interests rather than adopting an amendment that could facilitate utility infrastructure expansion.
