Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council Area Agency on Aging Area Plan 2027-2029
The Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council Area Agency on Aging's 2027-2029 Area Plan outlines a strategic approach to address the needs of the region's aging population. Key priorities identified through a comprehensive needs assessment include Benefits Counseling, Transportation Services, Minor Home Repairs for Accessibility, Caregiver Support and Education, and Chronic Disease Self-Management programs. The plan establishes four primary goals: maintaining and strengthening core services, expanding transportation capacity, addressing emerging needs in mental health and social isolation, and improving continuity of care. The plan aims to promote independence, dignity, and well-being for older adults and their caregivers by ensuring accessible, coordinated, and responsive services, particularly for those with economic and social needs, in alignment with the Texas State Plan on Aging.
